42.9% ABV | 700mL | Single vintage 2004 | Aged 15 years — Rhum J.M 2004 is a single-vintage hors d'âge rhum agricole from the Fonds-Préville distillery in Macouba, Martinique: fresh-pressed sugarcane juice distilled in 2004 in the estate's Creole copper column still, then rested 15 years in second-hand bourbon barrels and proofed with spring water from Mont Pelée. Made under the Rhum Agricole AOC Martinique — the only rum appellation in the world — it's cane juice, not molasses, which is why it tastes like nowhere else. Approximately 3,500 bottles (per RumX). Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.

Fifteen years in oak gives this vintage a deep, vinous richness: prunes, raisins, dried figs, and roasted almonds on a powerful, rounded nose; an intense, warm, enveloping palate of candied fruits coated in dark chocolate; and a very persistent cocoa-bean finish. Among vintage rums, the 2004 is a benchmark agricole — the grassy, floral cane character of J.M's spirit fully integrated with long barrel age. A collector's bottle that drinks as good as it looks on the shelf.

Frequently asked questions

What is rhum agricole?
Rum distilled from fresh sugarcane juice (not molasses), made primarily in the French Caribbean. Martinique's AOC is the only regulated rum appellation in the world.

What does "2004" mean?
The rhum was distilled in 2004 and aged 15 years — a single-vintage (millésime) release, not a blend of years.

How many bottles were made?
Approximately 3,500 bottles, per the RumX database.

Is it sweetened?
No — J.M bottles without added sugar; all sweetness comes from the cane and the barrel.
