One Distillation, One Year in Glass

The wild Tepeztate for this batch grew around Amatengo and was 12 to 15 years old at harvest on January 13, 2025. The agave was roasted for five days in a conical earthen oven with guamuchil and mesquite, crushed with machete and tahona, and fermented naturally for nine days in 1,200-liter sabino wood vats with stream water. Luis Juarez distilled it once, on February 24, 2025, in a 300-liter copper pot still fitted with a refrescadera, producing 120 liters — of which 85 liters rested a full year in glass before bottling on September 25, 2026. Compare it with other ancestral Oaxacan bottlings like the Tepanal Ancestral Espadin Capon Mezcal.

Tasting Notes

A silky, intensely floral spirit with a long herbal finish — wild marmorata character, green and aromatic, carried at full 50.5% ABV with remarkable softness from its year of glass rest.

How to Enjoy
