Mhoba Rum Distillery in Malalane, Mpumalanga (founder Robert Greaves) distills fresh cane juice — not molasses — in custom high-reflux copper-and-steel pot stills after wild-yeast fermentation. The bottling is a collaboration with independent bottler Holmes Cay. Notes from the bottler: stir-fried pineapple and soy on the nose; tepache, umami, and brioche on the tongue; a juicy, nutty finish — no sugar, no artificial flavors, non-chill filtered. Drinkhacker gave it an A- ($40, Feb 2026).
