Into the Bottle
Flamingo Riviera was inspired by a mango paleta dusted with Tajín-style chili, lime, sugar and salt, eaten on a road trip through the Yucatán near Ría Lagartos — the last street name on the way was Riviera Flamingo. Back in Greenport, Matchbook peeled cases of mangos and macerated them for about a year in distillates of fresh Persian limes and black lime, then added whole dried árbol, ancho, guajillo and pasilla chilis — their take on the Tajín blend — for several more months, before proofing with a syrup made from the same chilis. It is a flagship of the fruit side of our fruit liqueurs selection.
Tasting Notes
Sweet, ripe mango first, then a big chili profile — a bit spicy, a bit tangy, a little smoky — with a touch of raisin and dark fruit on the finish.
