Matchbook Distilling Day Trip Blueberry Amaro Liqueur is a seasonal fruit amaro from Matchbook Distilling Co. in Greenport, on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. A wine made from New Jersey blueberries is fortified with distillates of wild cherry blossom, toasted coconut, almond and makrut lime leaf, sweetened with a Madagascar vanilla syrup and an in-house cereal-milk syrup made with Kellogg's Corn Flakes, and finished with the classic amaro botanicals quassia and gentian. Bottled at 16% ABV in a 750mL bottle, it is one of the most distinctive American entries in our liqueurs range.

A Day Trip to Briermere, Bottled

The blueberries — about 693 lbs of them — arrive via Clark at Briermere Farms, the North Fork farm stand famous for its fruit and pies. Matchbook treads the berries, ferments them into a blueberry wine with pronounced fruit and racy tartness, then fortifies it at its peak with fruit and botanical distillates, effectively stopping time and preserving the wine at its best. Madagascar vanilla bean syrup and the nostalgic cornflake syrup layer in comfort, and quassia and gentian balance the sweetness with a gentle bitter finish. It belongs on any serious amaro & bitters shelf, next to the distillery's own Matchbook Distilling Eldest Daughter Vermouth.

Tasting Notes

Deep blueberry fruit and pie-filling richness up front, with vanilla and toasted coconut warmth, almond and cherry-blossom florals, a citrus lift from makrut lime leaf, and a bittersweet gentian-quassia close — like the end of a North Fork beach day.

How to Enjoy

Drink it chilled on its own as a digestif, over ice with tonic or soda as a highball (a build featured on serious cocktail menus), or use it anywhere a fruit-forward amaro can stand in for vermouth. More cocktail building blocks live across our spirits range, and seasonal bottles like this one feature in our Holiday Gift Guide.
