Jura 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Velvety Milk Chocolate

I’m a huge fan of Isle of Jura drams, which is strange, because I don’t care for a lot of island scotches – too peaty. This is my 15th Isle of Jura tasting. I didn’t care for Superstition, Prophecy, or Brooklyn, but the rest are excellent for my taste. The 12-yr greets you with cinnamon on the nose (would pair well with a slice of warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream). On the tongue, it’s velvety milk chocolate, with a little smoke in the background, followed by the peppery barley malt. Strangely enough, the pepper gives way to sherbet in the finish. I would never have though a delicate flavor like sherbet would follow peppery barley malt, but it definitely comes through. The legs are good and the finish long. Very nice.
