The brand is named for brothers Jacob and Abner Taub, Prohibition-era bootleggers caught in a 1929 sting and later pardoned by President FDR. The whiskey lives up to the story: toasted marshmallow, candied almond, and orange marmalade over deep sherry sweetness on the nose; full-bodied toasted nuts, caramel, and dark chocolate with a red-fruit Oloroso character on the palate; long, warming, and jammy on the finish.
