Wowzer!

GlenDronach is one of my all-time favorite scotches. I’ve had a BOLO for the port finish for a couple years now. It is finally available in the USA. As I’ve said before, I’ve never had a scotch finished in Pedro Ximénez casks that I didn’t like. Well, this is all the goodness of GlenDronach and all the goodness of Pedro Ximénez, with the additional finish of port casks. Wowzer! It is a beautiful dram – rich wood colors, with a beautiful burgundy hue from the port casks. On the palate, a plethora of flavors pour forth across the full mouth-feel – blackberries, black cherries, plums, followed by strawberry jam and dark chocolate, finishing long with orange peel and a light black pepper. Do not drink this unless you have time to enjoy it – you won’t be disappointed. It is excellent. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
