Bedford Park Ledaig 13 Year Old Scotch Whisky 2010
Ledaig is the peated soul of Tobermory, the Isle of Mull's only distillery — and this Bedford Park single cask gives it a Bordeaux accent. Distilled in 2010, the spirit spent over eleven years in a refill hogshead before a finishing spell in a first-fill Chateau Talbot red wine barrique in 2023, and was bottled in 2024 at thirteen years old and a cask-strength 57.9% ABV. Non-chill filtered, natural colour, one of 297 bottles from cask #2314503. Peat smoke meets St-Julien red wine — a combination you will not find anywhere else in our Scotch whisky collection.

The Story
Bedford Park calls this bottling "Scotch Opening" — the first release in its Chess series, with label art by Alexander Perkins showing two mounted knights mid-charge. It is a fitting debut: Ledaig's maritime peat is a bold opening move, and the Talbot barrique answers with dark red fruit and fine French oak tannin. Bottled by North Coast Distillers under the Bedford Park label, it shows the same single cask discipline the house brings to its rums, like the Bedford Park 13 Year Old Fiji Single Barrel Rum.
Tasting Notes
Bonfire smoke, sea spray and cured meat rise first, then the wine cask speaks — black cherry, plum skin and a little cocoa. The palate is dense and oily, peat rolling into red berry and spice, with a long, smoky, wine-stained finish.
How to Enjoy
Neat at cask strength for the full collision of peat and Bordeaux, or with a few drops of water to separate the smoke from the fruit. A dram for cold evenings and collectors of the unusual — see more in our Rare & Top Shelf collection.
