Zumbador Blanco Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL blanco from 100% Blue Weber agave, additive-free and unaged, produced at NOM 1643 in the highlands of Jalisco. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Blanco is where a distillery shows its hand — nothing to hide behind — and Zumbador's hand is a strong one. The López family, fourth-generation growers under master distiller Roberto López Anaya, tends about 1,000 acres and 1.5 million agaves at El Sabino in Jesús María, nearly 2,000 meters up in the Altos de Jalisco. The agave is steam-roasted in brick ovens, crushed by tahona and roller mill, wild-fermented, and double distilled in copper-and-stainless pot stills, then bottled without a day in oak. Zumbador — "hummingbird" — keeps every step additive-free, so what reaches the glass is purely highland agave, water, and craft.

The nose is fruit-and-floral with a gentle, sweet acidity; the palate is clean and expressive, with refined minerality, citrus brightness, and cooked-agave depth under the white pepper snap that marks a true highland blanco. The finish is crisp and food-hungry. Explore the Zumbador collection and more tequila at Del Mesa Liquor.

Serving note: this is a cocktail blanco with the character to sip — build a Batanga, Margarita, or Paloma, or pour it beside ceviche, where the citrus and minerality lock right in. And if you chase proof, note Zumbador also bottles a separate 54% High Proof Blanco; this is the classic 40% expression.

Is Zumbador Blanco additive-free? Yes — it is confirmed additive-free: no sweeteners, flavourings, or colouring. Just highland Blue Weber agave, wild fermentation, and double pot distillation.

What is the difference between this and Zumbador High Proof Blanco? This bottling is the standard expression at 40% ABV (80 proof). The High Proof Blanco is a separate release bottled at 54% ABV for a more intense, spirit-forward style.

Where does Zumbador come from? The El Sabino distillery (NOM 1643) in Jesús María, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco — made by master tequilero Roberto López Anaya and his fourth-generation agave-growing family from their own estate Blue Weber agave.

How should I drink a blanco tequila? Neat if you want to judge the distillery, or in citrus-forward cocktails — Margaritas, Palomas, and Batangas — and alongside ceviche and oysters.
