Westland Wine Cask Finish American Single Malt Whiskey
Westland Wine Cask Finish American Single Malt Whiskey is a 46% ABV (92 proof), 700mL American single malt from Westland Distillery in Seattle, Washington — part of the Cask Exploration Series, finished in wine casks from the Pacific Northwest. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Where its Beer Cask sibling celebrates the Northwest's brewers, the Wine Cask Finish pays homage to its winemakers: Westland matures its single malt in new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then finishes it in a combination of Tempranillo, Washington State red blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot casks. Batch 1 (2024) ran to 14,614 bottles, and the expression continues as a core-range release in further batches.
Tasting profile: allspice, chocolate wafer, raspberry reduction and dried rose on the nose; chocolate raspberry turnover, Earl Grey tea and dried strawberry on the palate — intricate fruit balanced against a rich, robust malt base. Browse the Westland brand collection, more American whiskey, and the full whiskey collection at Del Mesa Liquor.
Serving note: neat or with a single rock — the wine-cask fruit rewards a slow pour; pairs naturally with dark chocolate.
