Effen Blood Orange Vodka
Effen Blood Orange Vodka is a 37.5% ABV (75 proof) Dutch vodka infused with natural blood orange — distilled continuously from 100% premium Northern French wheat, blended with purified Dutch water, and filtered through activated carbon for an exceptionally smooth base, in this 750mL bottle. The flavored Effen line runs at 37.5% rather than the unflavored Original's 40%, letting the zesty blood-orange character lead over the clean wheat spirit. Holland's Take on Blood Orange
EFFEN — Dutch for smooth, even, balanced — built its name on a simple formula: French wheat, Dutch water, continuous distillation, carbon filtration. The Blood Orange expression keeps that base intact and layers natural blood-orange infusion over it, dropping to 37.5% ABV so the citrus leads. It's the flavored vodka for people who find most flavored vodkas too sweet: zesty, clean, and built for soda water. Compare with the vodka shelf's other citrus players, or see the full Effen range.
Tasting Notes
Zesty and clean: bright blood-orange zest and juice up front, a whisper of vanilla underneath, over the smooth, neutral wheat base the carbon filtration delivers. Medium-bodied for a flavored vodka, finishing crisp and citrusy without syrupy sweetness.
How to Enjoy
Vodka soda with a blood-orange wheel is the obvious move — two ounces, soda, citrus, ice. It also brightens a Cosmopolitan variation, a citrus Martini, or a simple highball with tonic and rosemary.
