Corralejo Triple Distilled Reposado Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL reposado from Hacienda Corralejo in Penjamo, Guanajuato — 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave distilled three times (copper pot, column, then copper pot again, in the Charentais tradition) and rested 4 months in French, American and Encino oak per the importer's notes. The third distillation polishes the spirit silk-smooth while the short oak rest keeps the agave in front. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Tequila from Hidalgo's Birthplace

Hacienda Corralejo is hallowed ground in Mexican history: Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the father of Mexican independence, was born there in 1753, and the brand dates the estate to 1755, among the first in Mexico to sell tequila commercially. Corralejo remains one of the very few tequilas made outside Jalisco, with every step — estate agave from high-altitude volcanic fields, slow roasting in traditional clay ovens, distillation in copper pot and column stills imported from Tomelloso, Spain — still done at the hacienda, where the bottles are blown in the estate's own glass factory and labelled by hand. The Triple Distilled takes the house reposado one pass further through the stills for extra refinement. Shop the estate's range on the Corralejo vendor page, compare the double-distilled Corralejo Reposado, or browse the wider tequila shelf.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light straw. Nose: Vanilla, cooked pear and white peppercorn, per the importer's notes. Palate: Lemon-lime and honey with peppercorn spice over the cooked agave. Finish: Silky-smooth — the third distillation shows in the texture.

How to Enjoy

The importer serves it neat or on the rocks, and that is where the triple-distilled polish earns its keep; it also makes a notably clean, citrus-bright Margarita.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does triple distilled mean here? The spirit passes through the stills three times — copper pot, then column, then copper pot again — one pass more than standard tequila, in the Charentais method Corralejo borrowed from Cognac-making.

Is Corralejo made in Jalisco? No. It is distilled at Hacienda Corralejo in Penjamo, Guanajuato (NOM 1368) — one of the few distilleries outside Jalisco officially permitted to produce tequila.

How long is it aged, and how does it differ from the regular Reposado? Both rest 4 months in oak. The difference is distillation: three passes here versus two for the standard Reposado, giving a silkier, more polished pour.
