Corralejo Anejo Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL anejo from Hacienda Corralejo in Penjamo, Guanajuato — 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave, double distilled in the Charentais method and aged a full 12 months in a mix of American and French Limousin oak barrels. Presented in the line's signature red bottle, it is the estate's classic aged expression: oak, cocoa and caramel over a still-lively agave core. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A Year in Oak at the Hacienda

Every part of this tequila happens at Hacienda Corralejo — the estate where Miguel Hidalgo, father of Mexican independence, was born in 1753, and which the brand dates to 1755. Agave from the estate's high-altitude, volcanic-soil fields is slow-roasted in traditional clay ovens and distilled in copper pot and column stills brought from Tomelloso, Spain, in the 400-year-old Charentais style borrowed from Cognac. For the Anejo, the spirit then rests 12 months in American and French Limousin oak before being bottled in glass blown at the hacienda's own factory, labels applied by hand. See the full estate range on the Corralejo vendor page, step down to the Corralejo Reposado for a lighter rest, or browse tequila at Del Mesa.

How to Enjoy

A sipping anejo — pour it neat in a flute or rocks glass and give it a minute to open. It holds its own against a mild cigar and makes a rich, oak-forward Old Fashioned variation with the Corralejo Blanco drinkers in the house will recognise the lineage.

How long is Corralejo Anejo aged? Twelve months in a mix of American and French Limousin oak barrels, per the current official product page.

Where is Corralejo made? At Hacienda Corralejo in Penjamo, Guanajuato (NOM 1368) — not Jalisco. It is one of the few tequilas produced outside Jalisco with official rights.
