Mexican Springtime in a Bottle

Condesa is named for La Condesa, the leafy, art deco neighborhood of Mexico City, and this expression — Xoconostle y Azahar in Spanish — was formulated to capture a sunny Mexican afternoon at golden hour. It is made at Flor de Luna, the pioneering women-owned-and-operated micro-distillery founded in Mexico City in 2015 by Maestra Destiladora Hillhamn Salome, who co-created the brand. Juniper, prickly pear, raspberry, coriander and lime zest macerate for two days and run through one of the distillery's two Mexican-made 400-liter copper pot stills; the orange blossom is distilled separately as a tincture and blended in precisely, so the blossom stays bright without turning sweet. Every botanical, the grain base and the bottles themselves are sourced in Mexico. Browse the Condesa collection, more gin, and the full spirits shelves at Del Mesa.

Tasting Notes

Fresh prickly pear and raspberry over delicate orange blossom and lime zest on the nose; a crisp, elegant palate of citrus blossom, red fruit and juniper spice; and a dry, refreshing finish of orange flower, lime and coriander — clean, bright and fragrant, with no added sugar.

How to Enjoy

A beautiful Martini — the fruit and blossom are balanced enough to carry one with little or no vermouth — or a vivid gin and tonic with an orange slice. It shines in fruit-led classics like a Clover Club, Bramble or Aviation, and over ice on its own when the afternoon calls for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is xoconostle? The tart, magenta prickly pear fruit of a Mexican cactus — an indigenous desert fruit that gives this gin its bright, bracing cactus-fruit note and its Spanish name, Xoconostle y Azahar (prickly pear and orange blossom).

Is it a sweet gin? No. Despite the fruit and blossom, it is a truly dry gin with zero added sugar — the prickly pear brings acidity and the orange blossom brings perfume, not sweetness.

Who makes Condesa Gin? Flor de Luna, a women-owned-and-operated micro-distillery in Mexico City founded in 2015, led by Maestra Destiladora Hillhamn Salome. Condesa is named for Mexico City's La Condesa neighborhood.

What is the ABV and size? 43% ABV, 750mL.
