The story starts in October 1910, when a fire shut down the bottling line at 117 West Main Street in Louisville. With a vat of mature whiskey and nowhere to bottle it, the bourbon was rested in new charred oak containers until the line could be repaired. The result was so exceptional it became Owsley Brown's personal stock — labeled "Old Fine Whisky." The modern release recreates that happy accident: mature Old Forester enters a second, lightly toasted and heavily charred barrel at a low 100 proof, drawing deep sweet wood sugars into the whiskey.
