Heavy sherry influence in the glass: walnut, dark cherry, and Christmas-cake spice on the nose; a palate of fig, toffee, cocoa, and orange oils; and a long, warming finish of oak and dried fruit. Among sherried Scotch whiskies, Caledonia is the cult bottling — selected by a folk legend, bottled the old way, no coloring, no chill filtration. Neat, with time in the glass.
