Barrel Character, Filtered Clear

Cristalino is tequila's sleight of hand: barrel-aged depth with a blanco's crystal look. Mijenta — made under Maestra Tequilera Ana Maria Romero Mena from highland agave grown in Arandas's iron-rich red soils, cooked in autoclave, roller-milled and copper-pot distilled — rests its blanco for roughly eight months in Symphony barrels, custom casks assembled from American oak staves sourced from Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Virginia. A charcoal filtration then strips the colour while keeping the barrel's flavour; blending back a measure of unfiltered spirit (90/10) restores body. The result pours water-clear and tastes like a much older tequila. Browse the Mijenta collection, more tequila, and the cristalino shelf at Del Mesa.

Tasting Notes

Mijenta's official flavour set for the Cristalino runs maple, caramel, coffee and coconut over toffee and cooked agave, with citrus, honey, vanilla and chocolate through the finish — the Symphony barrels' sweetness held in a silky, transparent frame.

How to Enjoy

Sip it neat or with a single cube — the clarity is the point, and the flavour needs no camouflage. It also builds an elegant, aged-character Margarita and a Cristalino Old Fashioned with a twist of orange.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cristalino tequila? Barrel-aged tequila that has been charcoal-filtered to remove its colour, so it pours crystal-clear while keeping the vanilla, caramel and spice of its time in oak. Mijenta's starts as blanco aged about eight months in Symphony barrels.

Is Mijenta Cristalino an anejo? No — at roughly eight months of aging it sits in the reposado age class; cristalino describes the filtration and clarity, not an age category. Its depth comes from the Symphony barrel aging plus a 10% unfiltered component in the blend.

What are Symphony barrels? Custom casks built for Mijenta from American oak staves sourced from four states (Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Virginia), designed to layer different oak characters in one barrel.

Is Mijenta additive-free? Yes — Mijenta participates in Tequila Matchmaker's Confirmed Additive Free program, and the Cristalino is produced without additives.

Clear as blanco, deep as the barrel — order Mijenta Cristalino Tequila online from Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.
