Casa Magdalena Ron Blanco Rum
Casa Magdalena Ron Blanco – Crisp Estate Rum from Guatemala
Some rums are blended from spirit sourced anywhere and everywhere. Casa Magdalena Ron Blanco is the opposite: a true estate rum, made start to finish by one family on one piece of land.
It's a collaboration between Portland, Oregon's House Spirits Distillery and Ingenio Magdalena, the Leal family's sugar operation in Guatemala. Every drop begins as sugar cane that is grown, harvested by hand, and distilled by the Leal family in the shadow of the Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango volcanoes — whose rich volcanic ash gives the cane a subtle earthiness you won't find in any other rum.
The molasses is column-distilled at the Magdalena Distillery in Guatemala, shipped to the US, and rested for about six months in American whiskey barrels before being lightly filtered. The result is a crisp, clean white rum with genuine character: fresh cane and light grassy aromas, a plush, smooth palate, and a clean finish with just the faintest hint of lime.
At $22.99, this is one of the best values on the white rum shelf — a versatile, honest bottle that lifts a Daiquiri or Mojito well above the ordinary, yet stays smooth enough to sip. We're proud to have it on our shelves here at Del Mesa Liquor.
