Rich mahogany in the glass: fresh-baked cherry pie, cranberry, cardamom, and nutmeg on the nose; buttered brown sugar crumbles, tart cherries, and berry medley jam on the palate; and a finish of cherry pipe tobacco, charred oak, and sweet habanero pepper with gentle lingering warmth. Among finished rye whiskeys, the French-oak second maturation is the differentiator — spice up front, dessert in the middle, smoke and heat at the close.
