Noble Oak Double Oak Rye Whiskey is Indiana-distilled rye finished in Ohio with Portuguese port wine oak staves through a proprietary Compression Finishing process of heat-and-pressure cycles. This 750mL bottle is 96 proof (48% ABV).
After initial maturation in charred new American oak, the rye is finished on staves sourced from Portugal through Edrington's Master of Wood — the same wood program behind some of Scotland's great sherried malts. It earned 97 points and an Extraordinary Ultimate Recommendation at the 2020 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and every bottle sold plants a tree with One Tree Planted (500,000+ and counting).
Tasting notes
Toffee, toasted almond, dark cherry, and allspice on the nose over dry, spicy rye grain. The palate layers brown sugar, maple syrup, red berries, dried figs, clove, ginger, and white pepper with port tannin depth — finishing warm and long with clean citrus zest and sweet oak.
