The blend: Dominican rums aged up to 10 years in ex-bourbon casks, then 2 more years in French ex-wine barrels, then a final long rest in massive 15,000-liter European-oak vats — a triple-aged reserve blend described by retailers as a 22-year reserve. Brilliant copper-brown: crème brûlée, caramelized raisins, and dried cherries on the nose with dehydrated spice; smooth and semi-dry on the palate with mocha, honey, nuts, and fine European-wood spice; a long, elegant finish of pepper leaf and refined tobacco.
