Cihuatán takes its name from the pre-Columbian city whose ruins stand near the distillery — a place the Maya called the "city of the woman." Licorera Cihuatán was El Salvador's first rum distillery, and Alux is its prestige bottling: rums distilled in 2007, rested a decade and a half in the tropical heat of the Cihuatán Valley, then given their final polish in European oak that previously held Oloroso sherry and Cognac.
