Fifteen Years the Family Kept for Itself

For a century, the oldest Barbancourt never left the family — the Estate Reserve was the Réserve du Domaine, poured for the Gardères and their friends. Since the 1960s it has been released in limited quantities each year, presented in a gift box decorated with Haitian art. Fifteen tropical years in Limousin oak do what they do to cognac: roasted almonds, candied citrus, baked pear, cinnamon and butterscotch, with a soft, mellow fade that reviewers have compared to rum flan. This is the pinnacle of the core collection and one of the great aged spirits of the Caribbean. Tasting Notes

Roasted almonds, candied citrus, vanilla and dried fruits (grapes, prunes, apricot, fig) on the nose. The palate is fruity and elegant — plum, toffee, butterscotch, warm spice, oak and a touch of chocolate — with a long, rich, complex finish of trailing spice and honey.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a tulip glass, no ice, no rush — this is a contemplative pour. Save the Ti' Punch for the 3 Star.
