  • Certification: confirmed additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker

Fourteen Months of Bourbon-Barrel Patience

Tepozan is a single-estate project in San Julian, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco: organically grown agave from the family's own fields, two days in brick ovens, roller-mill crush, open-air fermentation in stainless steel tanks without fibers, and double distillation in stainless pot stills under Maestro Tequilero Don Carlos Padilla. The anejo then spends 14 months in Kentucky white oak bourbon barrels — deep well water is the other silent ingredient — and carries Tequila Matchmaker's additive-free confirmation. Tasting Notes

Creamy oak and agave rise first on the nose, followed by cinnamon, butterscotch, and a delicate lift of jamaica flower. The palate is full and generous — caramelized agave, honey, and baking spices leading into juicy fruit and a grounding, deep minerality — with a slightly oily, very pleasant finish whose warmth lingers cleanly. Independent tasters call it an incredibly balanced expression, very light on the anejo spectrum.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a copita is the purest read on the 14 months of oak. It also makes an exceptional anejo margarita — the caramelized agave holds its own against citrus.
