Blade and Bow Bourbon Whiskey is a Kentucky straight bourbon aged in the solera system — bottled at 91 proof (45.5% ABV), 750mL. A tribute to the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery, it carries a thread of some of the last bourbon ever distilled there before it closed in 1992.
The solera method — borrowed from sherry and port — uses tiered barrels that are never fully emptied, so every bottle contains a fraction of older whiskey layered over younger. Each bottle also carries a decorative brass key honoring the five keys of bourbon-making: grain, yeast, fermentation, distillation, and aging. A 2015 Gold Medalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
