Rhum JM Atelier Epices Creoles
Rhum JM Atelier Epices Creoles is a 46% ABV 700mL Martinique rhum agricole from the L'Atelier des Rhums series — aged a minimum of three years in French and American oak barrels of various capacities and char levels, deliberately chosen for the spicy quality oak itself can give. Creole Spice, Drawn from Wood
"Épices Créoles" means Creole spices — and the surprise of this Atelier expression is that every one of them comes from the barrel. Karine Lassalle built this rhum agricole by selecting French and American oak barrels for their ability to highlight oak's inherent spicy character: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper — the warm pantry of Martinique cuisine, found in wood rather than added as spice. It is the same careful method as its sibling Rhum JM Atelier Fumée Volcanique, chasing spice instead of smoke. Explore the Rhum J.M collection and more aged rums at Del Mesa.
Tasting Notes
Ginger is the throughline — honey and warm wood, cinnamon and nutmeg, black pepper on the finish. Three-plus years in mixed French and American oak give it depth without weight, and the cane-juice freshness of the agricole base keeps it bright.
How to Enjoy
Neat to appreciate the oak-driven spice, or in a ti' punch where the ginger and pepper notes cut beautifully through lime and cane syrup.
