Planteray Isle of Fiji Rum
Planteray Isle of Fiji Rum is a 40% ABV (80 proof) double-aged rum from Fiji's only distillery — the South Pacific Distillery in Lautoka — matured ~2–3 years in ex-bourbon casks in the tropical Fiji climate, then a further year in ex-Ferrand Cognac casks in southwest France, in this 750mL bottle. Molasses from hand-cut Fijian sugarcane is fermented 4–5 days and distilled in a pot-and-column blend, then aged across two continents by Maison Ferrand. Formerly labeled Plantation; the liquid is unchanged under the Planteray name. Order it online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Two Continents in One Bottle
Isle of Fiji is Planteray's argument for double aging: the rum spends its youth in ex-bourbon casks under Fiji's tropical heat — where wood and spirit interact fast and intensely — then crosses the world to rest a final year in the Cognac casks of Maison Ferrand in southwest France. The South Pacific Distillery's pot-and-column blend (floral column spirit, aromatic pot spirit) takes beautifully to the journey. The Plantation name became Planteray in 2024; the rum inside didn't change. Find it with the rum collection's world travelers, or browse the full Planteray range.
Tasting Notes
Golden and generous: tropical fruit and vanilla from the Fiji years, then the Cognac-cask finish adds dried fruit, toasted nuts, and a polished oak roundness. Medium-bodied and smooth — the pot-still aromatics (a whiff of overripe banana, warm spice) keep it interesting through a long, gently sweet finish.
How to Enjoy
Neat or over a large cube to taste the double aging; it also makes a superb Daiquiri — the Cognac-cask roundness loves lime — and holds its own in a Mai Tai or a simple rum-and-ginger.
