Calle 23 Blanco Tequila is a 750mL blanco bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in Los Altos, Jalisco, and double distilled under French-born master distiller Sophie Decobecq at NOM 1545, Hacienda Capellania. Unaged and rested only in stainless steel, it is the purest read on the house style: cooked agave, fresh citrus and herbs, with Granny Smith apple and pear through the palate. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A Biochemist's Blanco from Los Altos

Sophie Decobecq came to Mexico in 1999 as a French biochemist and engineer and began developing what became Calle 23 in 2003, bringing a fermentation specialist's eye to highlands agave. The blanco process is deliberately transparent: agave cooked in low-pressure autoclaves, roller-mill extraction, deep well water, and an open-air stainless-steel fermentation of 100% agave, then double distillation in a stainless pot still with a copper coil. Nothing is hidden behind oak — the blanco is bottled as the still and the ferment made it. Compare it with the rested expressions on the Calle 23 vendor page and across our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the brand's official notes: a crystalline pour with cooked agave at the centre, fresh citrus and herbal aromas, and a soft but characterful palate of full agave flavour touched with fruit — especially Granny Smith apple and pear — into a long finish.

How to Enjoy

The Margarita and Ranch Water blanco of the range, and clean enough for a neat caballito pour for agave-first drinkers. More blancos are in our tequila collection and the full range across our spirits collection.
