A Vintage Belize Rum, Finished in France
Planteray — the Maison Ferrand rum house formerly known as Plantation — built this vintage series on a simple double-ageing idea: long tropical maturation where the rum is distilled, then a final year in Ferrand's own casks in southwest France. The Belize 2008 spent fifteen years in ex-bourbon casks under the Central American sun before its French finish, emerging at a full 48.3% ABV. Tasting Notes
Dark amber with tropical fruit, toasted coconut and oak on the nose; a powerful, structured palate of dried fruit, vanilla, cocoa and warm spice; a long, dry, oaky finish that carries the higher proof with ease.
How to Enjoy
A sipping rum through and through — neat in a tasting glass, rested ten minutes. A splash of water tames the 48.3% and opens the dried fruit.
