A Love Letter to Paris, Distilled in Speyside
The Distil Your World series pairs The Macallan's whisky makers with the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca — twice named the world's best restaurant — to translate a great city into a single malt. After London, New York, Mexico City, and Hong Kong, Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell turned to Paris and its tradition of l'art de la table, the art of the table. Campbell and Joan Roca walked the city's patisseries, perfumeries, and restaurant kitchens, and the whisky she built from that journey leans unmistakably French: sherry-seasoned American oak brings creamy sweetness, European oak adds depth and structure, ex-bourbon casks lend tropical warmth, and a finishing influence of Cognac casks — never before used at The Macallan — adds a final flourish of refinement. The bottle arrives in a white presentation box accented in "street yellow," a nod to the City of Light, with gouache illustrations by Paris artist Cassandre Montoriol depicting a Parisian table d'hôte. Tasting Notes
The nose is pure Parisian morning: almond croissants and rose petals, with nectarine, sandalwood, and vanilla pods underneath. The palate turns to the patisserie counter — buttered pastry, brioche, peach melba, and mille-feuille layered over toasted oak. The finish is gentle and composed, closing on soft spice and warm oak.
