King Floyd's Cherry Cacao Bitters
King Floyd's Cherry Cacao Bitters are handcrafted cocktail bitters from King Floyd's Bar Provisions in Novato, California — the Marin County maker founded in 2017 by Lawrence Floyd Batterton after more than twenty years in the herbal extract industry. Cherry Cacao is one of the brand's signature flavors and a Gold Medal winner at Tastings.com in 2019: it pairs tart Montmorency cherries with the bittersweet richness of dark cacao, rounded with gentian and dried rose petal. Each botanical is extracted on its own by maceration or percolation, stirred and tasted daily for up to two months, then filtered and blended. Bottled at 50% ABV in a 100mL bottle, a few dashes add dark-fruit depth to whiskey and aged-spirit drinks. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Dark-Fruit Side of the King Floyd's Line
Where most cherry bitters go bright and sweet, Cherry Cacao goes dark: the tartness of Montmorency cherries against genuine cacao bitterness, with caramel cream, dried fig and grilled peach in the background and a lift of rose petal on the finish. It was developed the slow King Floyd's way — hand-ground botanicals, separate extractions, daily tasting — and bartenders reach for it wherever a Manhattan build needs depth. Find the whiskeys it was made for in our whisky collection and across the wider spirits shelves.
Tasting Notes
Tart Montmorency cherry and dark chocolate first, then caramel cream, dried figs and grilled peach, finishing bittersweet with a faint floral note of rose petal.
How to Enjoy
Add a few dashes to a Manhattan, an Old Fashioned or a Boulevardier — or try it in an aged-rum or anejo tequila Old Fashioned, where the cacao plays beautifully against the oak. More cocktail building blocks are in our rum collection.
