The World's First Mole-Finished Tequila

Reserva de la Familia's Private Cask Collection exists to do things nobody has done before, and the 2026 Mole Edition is its boldest move yet: añejo tequila finished in casks seasoned with Oaxacan red mole. After the standard oak aging, the tequila rests roughly three months in medium-toasted new American oak that has been seasoned with the mole's roasted chiles, chocolate, and spice — so the finish reads as cacao, dried fruit, and pepper layered over La Rojeña's roasted-agave character. Announced in July 2026 at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans and sold at select US retailers from September 2026, it's the second edition in the Private Cask Collection.

Tasting Notes

Cacao, baking spice, dried fruit, and black pepper over roasted agave, with vanilla and toast from the new American and French oak. The mole seasoning adds a savory depth you don't get in any other añejo — warm and lingering rather than sweet.

How to Enjoy

This is a sipper: neat in a copita or a rocks glass, at room temperature, to catch the mole-cask layers. If you're cocktail-minded, try it in a añejo Old Fashioned with a single cube — the cacao notes play beautifully with bitters.
