The Vaults 2024: Finished in Amburana
Each year since 2019, The Vaults has taken Widow Jane's oldest barrels into a new wood — and for 2024 Jevremov tasted through the brand's old and rare collection to build a blend worthy of Amburana, the slow-growing "Brazilian oak" of southeastern Brazil and northern Argentina, prized for warm spice, floral and tropical character. The blend is proofed with the limestone mineral water of the Rosendale Mines, the same water behind Widow Jane's round mouthfeel and long finish. Tasting Notes
The release's official notes: amaretto cookie, fig leaf, cherry blossom, honey graham cracker and cinnamon bark on the nose; rosemary, cinnamon raisin, olive oil, Sencha green tea and roasted yam across the palate; and a finish of black licorice, honeysuckle, coconut macaroon, caramelised carrots and Satsuma.
How to Enjoy
Neat, in a proper tasting glass, with time — the Amburana spice and the old whiskey's depth trade places as it breathes. Water softens the licorice and lifts the florals. Save the cocktails for younger bourbon.
