Two Agaves, Three Distillations, No Meat
The name means "let's go laughing," and the method is as distinctive as the name. Espadin and Tobala are roasted in underground stone pits fired with oak remnants to limit deforestation, milled by tahona and fermented in oak vats; the two mezcals are distilled together, then run a third time with fruit in the copper still — the pechuga tradition, made vegan, so the fruit rounds the spirit without any meat. The house was named Mezcal Distillery of the Year at the 2020 New York International Spirits Competition. Compare it across our mezcal shelves, browse the tequila and mezcal range, or visit the Vamonos Riendo vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh fruit and honey with herbal notes and a subtle black-oak smokiness. Palate: Melon, pineapple, grapefruit and mandarin balanced by cocoa sweetness, with mint and anise. Finish: Long and velvety — smooth caramel with a citrus bite.
How to Enjoy
Neat, in small pours, is the way to taste both agaves and the fruit-rounded third distillation. It also builds a superb mezcal Margarita or a Paloma-style serve where the Tobala florals lift the drink.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vegan pechuga mezcal? Traditional pechuga is distilled a third time with fruit — and usually meat — in the still. Vamonos Riendo keeps the fruit and drops the meat, so the third distillation adds roundness and aroma while staying vegan.
What agaves are in Vamonos Riendo Ensamble? Espadin, matured eight years, and Tobala, matured fourteen years — an ensamble worked and distilled together rather than a single-varietal bottling.
Is Vamonos Riendo aged? No. It is a joven mezcal, bottled unaged at 42% ABV, so the flavour is agave, roast and the fruit-led third distillation.
Fruit-rounded, triple-distilled and quietly smoky — order Vamonos Riendo Ensamble Mezcal online from Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.
