Torabhaig Legacy Series Chapter No 3 Cnoc Na Moine
Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 750mL | 46% ABV (92 proof) | No age statement — Torabhaig Legacy Series Chapter No 3 Cnoc Na Moine is the third chapter of the distillery's Legacy Series and its first-ever sherry-cask-matured release — full maturation in ex-bourbon American oak plus Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, not a finish. Non-chillfiltered, natural color, limited to 90,000 bottles worldwide. Cnoc Na Mòine is Gaelic for "hill of peat," a real hill in Knoydart visible across the Sound of Sleat from the distillery. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.
Torabhaig is only the second licensed single malt distillery ever built on the Isle of Skye, raised by Mossburn Distillers in a restored 19th-century farmstead at Teangue and running since January 2017. The Legacy Series is its running exploration of the young distillery's character, chapter by chapter — and Cnoc Na Moine answers the obvious question: what happens when Torabhaig's maritime, well-integrated peat meets full sherry-cask maturation. Among Scotch whiskies, it's a milestone release: the first sherry-matured single malt from Skye's newest distillery, peated to 78.4 ppm in the spirit (19.7 ppm in the bottle) and bottled at a proper 46%. A must-try alongside any whiskey lover's peated lineup.
Tasting notes
Nose: gently subdued peat smoke, orange peel, tangy/tart fruit, faint dying embers, vanilla sweetness, freshly sawn oak spice. Palate: peat returns with a BBQ note, black pepper, light balsamic acidity, sweetness and gentle spice, cedar and leather, deep sherry influence. Finish: sherry in harmonious balance with integrated peat and spice.

Frequently asked questions
What does "Cnoc Na Moine" mean?
It's Gaelic for "hill of peat" — a real hill in Knoydart, visible from the Torabhaig distillery across the Sound of Sleat.
How old is the whisky?
No age statement — Torabhaig has only been distilling since 2017, so the contents are young; the distillery doesn't print a number.
What is the Legacy Series?
Torabhaig's series of chapter releases exploring the new distillery's character. Chapter 3, Cnoc Na Moine, is the first to use full sherry-cask maturation (Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez alongside ex-bourbon).
Is it heavily peated?
Moderately — the spirit runs 78.4 ppm phenols, settling to 19.7 ppm in the bottle, so the peat is present and integrated rather than overpowering.
