A Rye Made to Salute the Old West

Tincup Rye arrived in 2020, six years after Jess Graber — the founder of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey — launched Tincup in honour of Tin Cup, the Rocky Mountain mining town, and the tin cups its miners drank from (the bottle still carries a metal tin-cup cap). Per the brand, the Rye was made to salute Colorado and early American rye, evoking the rye the settlers and miners of the 1850s era drank: a high-rye mash distilled and aged in Indiana, then brought to Colorado and cut with Rocky Mountain water for a bold, spicy profile that never loses its smoothness. Browse the range on the Tincup vendor page and the wider shelf in our whisky collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the producer: golden amber in the glass, with an aroma of sweet vanilla and fresh tobacco; a smooth, bold palate with even spice; and a lingering caramel finish with a silky, tannic mouthfeel.

How to Enjoy

The brand suggests it neat, on the rocks, or in a Mountain Mule, and features it in a Tincup Lemonade; its rye spice also makes it a natural Manhattan or Boulevardier base. More ryes are in our spirits collection.
