Dublin Pot Still, Distilled in Dublin Again
Single pot still whiskey — made from a mixed mash of malted and unmalted barley in a single distillery's pot stills — was once Dublin's signature, and Teeling's Liberties distillery was built to bring it home: the producer positions this bottling as the first whiskey distilled in the city in nearly 50 years, an homage to the old closed Dublin distilleries. The recipe is the classic one, half malted and half unmalted barley, triple distilled, then matured across American virgin oak, bourbon casks and sherry casks. The producer's press releases record a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2022 and Gold with 95 points at the IWSC 2022 for the bottling. Browse the distillery's other releases on the Teeling vendor page and in our whisky collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer: a nose of fresh fruit, grapefruit, lychee and spice, with cinnamon, cream soda and roasted almond; a palate of peaches, poached pears, creaminess and cooked grains with allspice, opening with white pepper and moving to kumquat, peach and honey; and a finish of dry spice with muscovado-sugar sweetness.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with a few drops of water — at 46% and non-chill filtered, the pot still texture is the point. It also builds a definitive Irish Old Fashioned. More Irish whiskey lives in our whisky collection and across our spirits collection.
