St. George Green Chile Vodka
St. George Green Chile Vodka is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL flavoured vodka from St. George Spirits in Alameda, California, distilled and infused with five California-grown peppers — jalapeño, serrano, habanero, and red and yellow bell peppers — plus lime peel and fresh cilantro. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
The distillery crushes jalapeños with lime and non-GMO grain neutral spirit and distils them in a copper pot still through a vapour-infusion basket layered with cilantro; the other four peppers are infused separately, then blended with the jalapeño-lime-cilantro distillate, filtered and bottled with a natural light green tint from the peppers. The result is savoury and fruit-forward rather than fiery — UPROXX calls it the best vodka for Bloody Marys and The Manual named it Best Flavored Vodka at its 2018 Spirit Awards.
Tasting profile: a rich, earthy nose; a soft, fruit-forward palate with herbal cilantro complexity and lime-peel tang; a finish with just a light touch of heat. Browse the St. George brand collection, more vodka, and the full spirits collection at Del Mesa Liquor.
Serving note: built for Bloody Marys and kick-forward Moscow Mules; also try it as a split base in a Margarita or Gimlet, or with fresh pineapple or watermelon juice.
