A Castle Estate Whiskey, Triple-Casked in the Boyne Valley

Slane was created by the Conyngham family of Slane Castle — on the banks of the River Boyne since 1703, and famous since 1981 for the rock concerts held on its grounds — together with Brown-Forman, the family company behind Jack Daniel's and Woodford Reserve. The whiskey is made with soft water from the River Boyne and a longer fermentation in traditional wooden washbacks, then blended from three cask types: virgin oak with a medium char and heavy toast for toasted oak and vanilla, seasoned casks that previously held Tennessee whiskey and bourbon for caramel, plum, banana and butterscotch, and Oloroso sherry casks from Spain for raisin and spice. Explore the house on the Slane vendor page and the wider shelf in our whisky collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the producer: a nose of complex fruit with caramel, butterscotch and vanilla, brown spice and toasted oak; a palate that opens spicy, then turns rich with caramel, vanilla and butterscotch over dried fruit; and a lingering finish of dried fruit and caramelised wood sugar.

How to Enjoy

Neat or over ice, and versatile enough for the brand's own featured serves — a Slane Cold Brew, an Espresso Martini, or a River Boyne Fizz. More Irish and world whiskies are in our spirits collection.
