Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA is a 6.7% ABV (35 IBU) hazy IPA in a 6-pack of 12oz cans, brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing in Chico, California — unfiltered and aggressively dry-hopped, packaged straight from the tanks so the haze and the juicy hop character stay in the can. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Hazy IPA That Took the Style National

Sierra Nevada was founded in Chico in 1980 by homebrewer Ken Grossman, who built his first brewhouse from scrap and dairy equipment and brewed the first batch of Pale Ale that November. Hazy Little Thing, launched in January 2018, applied that pioneering streak to the hazy IPA: malt and oat proteins meet lupulin hop dust in the fermenter to build the haze naturally, filtration is skipped, and the beer goes straight from the tanks to the can. Browse more craft beer, visit the Sierra Nevada Brewing vendor page, or compare it with another California barrel-aged rarity, Lost Abbey Santo Ron Diego 2015.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Juicy tropical and citrus hops with orange and pineapple character — from hops alone, with no fruit added. Palate: Fruit-forward hop flavour over a silky malt body. Finish: Smooth with modest bitterness for the style.

How to Enjoy

Drink it fresh and cold, straight from the can or poured hard into a glass to release the aromatics. It pairs naturally with spicy food, grilled burgers and sharp cheddar.

Frequently Asked Questions

How strong is Hazy Little Thing? 6.7% ABV with 35 IBU — full-flavoured but smoother and less bitter than a classic West Coast IPA.

Why is it hazy? Sierra Nevada leaves it unfiltered: grain proteins and hop polyphenols interact during fermentation to create the haze, and the beer is packaged straight from the tanks to preserve it.

Does it contain fruit juice? No — the orange and pineapple character comes entirely from the hops (Citra, El Dorado, Magnum, Mosaic and Simcoe).
