The Horseman of the Hacienda, Bottled by Hand

The charro — the traditional Mexican horseman of the charrería, in his embroidered suit and wide hat — is presented by Riqueza Cultural as a symbol of Mexican identity reaching back to the colonial hacienda era: cheerful, bohemian, unmistakable. The brand finishes each figure bottle individually with Mexican artisans, down to the embossed aluminium sarape label. Behind the figure is valley tequila from Amatitan: Blue Weber agave given a slow three-day cook in masonry ovens, fermented with the house's own yeast and double distilled at Tequila Selecto de Amatitan. Set it beside its charra counterpart on our anejo tequila shelf, explore the range in tequila, or see every figure on the Riqueza Cultural vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Brown sugar leading. Palate: Vanilla, stewed agave and cinnamon with toasted oak, orange zest and a herbal dill note. Finish: Smooth and warm.

How to Enjoy

Neat, at room temperature, in a glass that lets the oak and cooked agave breathe. Like every Riqueza figure, the bottle is designed to outlive the liquid as a piece of folk art.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a charro? The traditional Mexican horseman at the centre of the charrería — Mexico's national equestrian tradition, born on the colonial-era haciendas and still practised today in embroidered dress, with the wide-brimmed charro hat as its emblem.

How is the Charro different from the Charra? By the figure, not by any verified recipe: no source states a liquid difference between the two bottlings — same NOM, same ABV, same producer. The Charro is the male rider, the Charra (#5 in this batch) the female rider of the same tradition.

How long is it aged? It depends on the vessel, and the producer publishes both: the glass Charro is an añejo rested at least 12 months in white oak; the ceramic Charro is an extra añejo of at least 36 months. The listing names no vessel — the product photo settles which bottle this is.
