Rhum Barbancourt Cane Blossom Mizunara Cask Finish is a 90-proof (45% ABV) Haitian agricole rum, 700mL — fresh-pressed pure sugarcane juice, distilled 2023 and finished 3 months in Japanese Mizunara oak. Barbancourt's first-ever Mizunara-finished rhum, limited to 1,800 bottles worldwide — available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Société du Rhum Barbancourt — founded 1862 by Dupré Barbancourt, Haiti's oldest and largest rum distillery, with cognac-making roots — flips its classic Limousin-oak program with a Japan-finished collector's piece. Mizunara oak, native to Hokkaido and taking 200+ years to mature, is prized for its porous grain and aromatic complexity. Barbancourt adds no sugar or artificial coloring; all color comes from the cask. Quoting the distillery via launch coverage: "Cane Blossom is the perfect blend between our pure cane juice Rhum and Japanese Mizunara Oak… The nose is a refined combination of the freshness of our cane with the floral and aromatic scents of the Mizunara. The mouthfeel is smooth and round following the nose notes with added sugary expressions of white fruits. The finish is soft but long."

Why buy: A Haiti-meets-Japan bottle with genuine scarcity — 1,800 bottles worldwide of the distillery's first Mizunara finish. Floral, refined agricole for the collector who already owns the rum classics. More from the distillery at Rhum Barbancourt at Del Mesa Liquor, or explore French-method spirits in cognac.

A: No — the distillery adds no sugar or artificial coloring; the golden color comes entirely from the cask.

Q: What's the difference between rhum agricole and regular rum?
