John Rich of Big & Rich built Redneck Riviera as a lifestyle brand around a simple motto — "Work Hard, Play Hard" — and the whiskey came from his own glass: a longtime Canadian-blend drinker, he set out to prove an American whiskey could be just as smooth, with all-American ingredients and packaging at a working-person price. Distillers Travis Schoney and Mel Heim at Eastside worked through more than 200 variations before Rich signed off on the blend. Nose: Light vanilla, butterscotch sweetness, caramel and bright honey. Palate: Smooth vanilla with a touch of oak, honey and dark stone fruit rounded by earthy grains. Finish: Subtle oak, smooth and easy.
