Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey is a 750mL blended Irish whiskey bottled at 43.2% ABV (86.4 proof) in its US bottling — a triple-distilled blend of single pot still and grain whiskey made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, and left non-chill filtered for a fuller, spicier pour. First bottled in Dublin in 1791's founding house tradition, Gold Label is the bold, spice-led heart of the Powers range. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Spicy Heart of Powers

James Power founded his Dublin distillery in 1791, and Powers built its name on pot still whiskey with more muscle than its rivals. Production moved to Midleton in County Cork in the 1970s consolidation, but the Gold Label recipe keeps its Dublin character: per the producer, it is taken from a tighter heart cut than the house's other whiskeys, with more of the top and tail discarded, which concentrates the spice. The US trade presenter puts the blend at roughly 70% pot still whiskey — a high share for a blend — matured in selected American oak. Browse the rest of the house on the Powers vendor page and in our whisky collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the producer's official notes: warm spice leads the nose — cinnamon and clove oil, white pepper — over russet apple, ripe pear and charred oak. The palate brings cinnamon, green pepper and nutmeg with orchard fruit, vanilla and toasted oak over a crisp barley core, and the finish runs long, with pot still oils and spice easing into barley, toasted wood and honey.

How to Enjoy

Neat or with a single cube — at 86.4 proof and non-chill filtered, Gold Label carries the body for a proper Irish Old Fashioned or a Manhattan with real spice. More Irish bottles are in our whisky collection and across our spirits collection.
