Planteray XO 20th Anniversary Rum is a 750mL Barbados rum bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), double aged first in bourbon casks under the Barbadian sun and then in Ferrand Cognac casks in southwest France. Maison Ferrand created it to mark Alexandre Gabriel's 20 years as the house's Master Blender — the "20th Anniversary" in the name is his, not an age statement on the rum. Planteray's signature method gives this rum two homes. The molasses rum is distilled at the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and aged 8 to 15 years in bourbon casks in the tropical climate, then shipped across the Atlantic in cask for a second maturation in ex-Ferrand Cognac casks in southwest France, where the cooler, drier air tightens the blend. The brand — renamed from Plantation to Planteray in 2024, with the rums themselves unchanged — credits the finished XO with more than 55 gold medals. Tasting Notes
Per the official Ferrand sheet: floral and fruity on the nose with vanilla, cocoa, and milk chocolate; the palate brings cinnamon-like spice, gently sweet molasses, and a soft, chewy texture with holiday spice cake, rum-flavored chocolate, and sugar cookie.
How to Enjoy
