Patron Extra Anejo is a 750mL extra anejo tequila bottled at 40% ABV, made from 100% Weber Blue Agave at Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco (NOM 1492), and aged for a minimum of three years in a combination of new and used American, French and Hungarian oak barrels. Introduced in 2017 as the first addition to Patrón's core range in 25 years, it is the house's long-aged sipping expression — almonds, baking spices and oak over a core of cooked agave. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Three Years, Three Oaks, One Hacienda

Patrón built its name on doing the slow things twice — crushing agave with both a volcanic-stone tahona and a roller mill, fermenting and copper-pot distilling in small batches at its Highlands hacienda. Extra Añejo, when it arrived in 2017, was the first new bottle in the core range in a quarter century, and it is built for patience: a minimum of three years across American, French and Hungarian oak, each wood adding its own register of spice and sweetness. The house was founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley and still produces exclusively in the Highlands of Jalisco. The full range is on the Patrón vendor page and in our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Patrón's current official notes: bright dark gold in colour; almonds, baking spices and oak on the aroma; cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla with light agave on the palate — a spice-led profile from the three-oak ageing.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a stemmed glass, given time to open — this is a sipping tequila in the cognac ritual. It also stands in for whiskey in an Old Fashioned, where the baking spices carry the drink. More long-aged tequilas are in our tequila collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
