Nine Years Between Bourbon Oak and Toasted Rye
Panama-Pacific — created by Haas Brothers of San Francisco, merchants since 1851, and named for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition — is built around one ageing idea: bourbon casks first for a foundation, then a long second life in toasted rye whiskey casks, which season the rum without charring over it. The age on the label is the youngest rum in the bottle — straight-aged, never a solera average — and the brand adds no caramel colour and no artificial flavourings. The 9 Year is the range's high-proof centre: nearly 95 proof of estate-cane rum. Explore the range on the Panama Pacific vendor page, or browse our rum collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the distillery notes: warm butter, flan-style caramel custard and golden raisin over spiced dried cherry and apricot; the palate moves from sweet caramel to charred wet wood and golden raisin, then coconut husk and banana, into a long, buttery wood finish.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with one large rock — at 94.6 proof it also stands up in a rum Old Fashioned. More aged rums are in our spirits collection.
