Michel Redde et Fils Pouilly-Fume La Moynerie is a 750mL Sauvignon Blanc from the Pouilly-Fumé appellation of France's Loire Valley, made entirely from estate fruit by the Redde family. La Moynerie is both the estate name and the cuvée: a family domaine revived by Michel Redde in the 1950s and run today by his grandsons Sébastien and Romain Redde. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Flint, Marl and the Loire's Sauvignon Blanc

Pouilly-Fumé is one of the Loire's two great Sauvignon Blanc villages, and La Moynerie's vines grow north of Pouilly-sur-Loire on a checkerboard of limestone, Kimmeridgian marl and clay with flint — the silex soils behind the appellation's famous gunflint character. The estate ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel and ages the wine on its fine lees, a classic recipe for taut, mineral white wine. Tasting Notes

Nose: Citrus, white flowers and ripe white fruit over a mineral, flinty note. Palate: Dense and silky yet taut, with gooseberry and exotic fruit, salty minerality and limestone freshness. Finish: Long and precise.

How to Enjoy

Serve well chilled, around 10–12°C, with grilled fish, seafood, salmon tartare or aged goat cheese — the classic Loire pairings for Pouilly-Fumé.
