Maxime Trijol XO Grande Champagne
Maxime Trijol XO Grande Champagne is a 40% ABV, 750mL cognac made exclusively from grapes grown in the Grande Champagne — the Premier Cru of Cognac, France. As an XO, its youngest eau-de-vie is at least ten years old by law, and specialist sources describe the blend itself as matured for around thirty years on the estate. It comes in the house's rounded decanter with a wooden gift box. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Single-Cru XO in the Decanter
Trijol sells two XOs, and this is the purist's one: where the Classic XO blends across crus, the Grande Champagne XO is drawn solely from the Premier Cru's chalky, mineral-rich soils, whose eaux-de-vie are prized for finesse and extraordinary ageing potential. The family grows its own grapes, distils in 22 small Charentais pot stills and ages the spirit in Limousin oak on the estate at Saint-Martial-sur-Ne — a house that has worked this way since its first still was installed in 1859. Compare it with the Classic bottling in our cognac collection, or see the full range on the Maxime Trijol vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Liquorice, vanilla and cedarwood, with dried apricot and fig. Palate: Full and mellow — dried fruit and spicy oak with a little rancio developing. Finish: Long, smooth and layered; deep gold-topaz in the glass.
How to Enjoy
Neat at around 20°C in a tulip glass, given time to open — the rancio and cedar build over fifteen minutes in the glass.
